AJOLI: Whispers of Womanhood – Debut Feature by Anuprash Das Unveils First Poster

Guwahati, Assam – August 18, 2025 – YouthzKorner Production has unveiled the first official poster of AJOLI: Whispers of Womanhood, the much-anticipated debut feature by filmmaker Anuprash Das. Rooted in the lived realities of Assam, the film is a lyrical exploration of womanhood, resilience, and identity, told through the quiet yet powerful story of its protagonist.

 

A Story of Silent Strength

 

In rural Assam, Ajoli grows up within the quiet rhythms of tradition, her life defined by household duties and unspoken expectations. She dreams of the freedom and opportunities of city life, a dream that seems within reach when she marries a man from the city. But instead of liberation, she finds herself confined within new walls, her aspirations slowly fading.

 

Ajoli: Whispers of Womanhood traces her intimate journey of longing and resilience, offering a poetic reflection on the strength and silence of countless women.

 

Filmmaker Anuprash Das explains:

 

“Ajoli is not merely a story — it is a voice for countless women whose journeys remain invisible. Through this film, I wish to highlight their quiet strength and lived experiences with honesty and depth.”

 

A Director Rooted in Regional Storytelling

 

For Anuprash, who have Directed, Shot, Edited and Produced the film, Ajoli is more than a debut — it is the culmination of over a decade of filmmaking. Founder of YouthzKorner (established in 2012), he has directed more than 50 short films and music videos, often serving as director, cinematographer, and editor. His debut feature is an entirely independent effort, sustained by personal savings and community support, underscoring his commitment to independent cinema and authentic storytelling.

 

Lead Performances

 

The film stars Nilakshi Deka as Ajoli. An actor and singer, Nilakshi is known for her Assamese song Ahori Napale and her Hindi single Zara Paas Aaa. She has also trained in theatre under Arvind Gaur’s Asmita Theatre in Delhi, bringing nuance and emotional depth to the character.

 

Opposite her is Chandan Das as Prabin, A versatile Assamese actor with roots in theatre, Chandan has earned recognition for his lead role in the feature film Goru, Hero and several popular Assamese music videos, including Bhobai Nasilu and Jonakor Sithi.

 

The ensemble cast also features Dipika Devi, Minakshi Kalita, Nibedita Kalita, Sumi Das, Bijay Laxmi Baruah, Hemanta Debnath, Tutumoni Kalita, and many others, reflecting the richness of Assamese community life.
